Columbus Catholic sweeps Pittsville in WIAA Division 4 volleyball regional semifinal

MARSHFIELD –Marshfield Columbus Catholic continued its strong play with a 3-0 sweep of Pittsville in a WIAA Division 4 girls volleyball regional semifinal Thursday at Columbus Catholic High School.

The second-seeded Dons won 25-14, 25-15, 25-12, to advance to a D-4 regional final at home against No. 3 Rib Lake at 7 p.m. Saturday. The winner qualifies for sectionals. The sectional semifinals are Oct. 26 at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, with the sectional final Oct. 28 at Bowler.

Kate Turchi led Columbus with nine kills and five service aces. Maren Seefluth added seven kills, seven digs and four aces, Kenzie Hansen had seven kills, Brooke Neider had 29 assists, and Annie Baierl had nine digs and four aces for the Dons.

Kate Hall also had four aces and Neider had three as the Dons dominated on serve.
