Weinfurter pours in 33 points to lift Auburndale boys basketball past Spencer

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale sophomore Cooper Weinfurter scored 33 points to lift the Apaches to a 65-54 nonconference win over Spencer on Friday night at Auburndale High School.

Weinfurter made six 3-pointers and was a perfect 9-for-9 at the free throw line for the Apaches.

Auburndale led 34-29 at halftime and held on from there to improve to 13-3 this season.

Jack Bezlyk led Spencer (6-7) with 26 points and Austin Bacon added 14 points.

Auburndale plays at Marathon in a battle of teams tied for the top spot in the Marawood Conference South Division standings on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.

Spencer’s next game is Tuesday at Owen-Withee.
