Stratford girls basketball drops nonconference game to Wittenberg-Birnamwood

STRATFORD – Stratford shot just 35 percent and scored just 12 points in the first half on its way to a 39-29 loss to Wittenberg-Birnamwood in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night at Stratford High School.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood (14-2) led 18-12 at halftime and held on from there as the Tigers made just 12 of 35 shots overall, and missed five of their eight free throw attempts.

Taya Nett led Stratford (10-7) with 10 points, including eight of the team’s 17 points in the second half.

Stratford returns to action Friday at Phillips for a Marawood Conference crossover game.
