Auburndale wins two of three, Stratford sweeps at Marawood volleyball crossovers

ABBOTSFORD – The Auburndale volleyball team won two of three at the Marawood Conference North-South Crossover tournament on Saturday at Abbotsford High School.

The Apaches lost to Athens 25-23, 25-16, before coming back to defeat Abbotsford 25-14, 25-22, and Rib Lake 25-18, 25-19.

Auburndale is now 3-4 in Marawood Conference play.

Katie Helminiak had 16 kills, Natalie Aue had 15 kills, and Mackenzie Raab had 14 kills, a team-high 36 assists, and 16 digs for Auburndale.

Alexis Soppe added 11 kills and 14 digs, and Georgi Schmutzer had 11 kills, 34 assists and 18 digs for the Apaches.

Auburndale plays at first-place Stratford on Tuesday.

Stratford swept its three matches, beating Abbotsford 25-21, 25-19; Athens 25-14, 25-7; and Rib Lake 25-14, 25-14.

Mazie Nagel led the Tigers in kills in all three matches, totaling 31. Jadyn Dahlke had 40 assists and Brooke Petersen added 35 assists, splitting time at setter for Stratford.

Blaire Lindner added seven kills against Rib Lake, and McKenna Krall had six digs in the wins over Athens and Abbotsford.
