WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls swim team had eight top-10 finishes and finished sixth in the team standings at the 2018 Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Swim Meet on Thursday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
The Tigers finished with 152 points, and combined with the regular-season dual meet, ended up in sixth place in the overall standings.
Stevens Point won the meet title by just six points over D.C. Everest and took its third-straight overall WVC championship.
Marhsfield’s top finish came from sophomore Alyssa Franks, who finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:32.54. Franks also finished seventh in the 200 freestyle in 2:06.65.
Sophomore Kaitlin Alberts was sixth in both the 200 individual medley in 2:26.09 and the 100 backstroke in 1:04.21, and sophomore Hope Risa finished ninth (58.92 seconds) and freshman Tara Kracht was 10th (59.23) in the 100 freestyle for the Tigers.
Kracht, Franks, Risa and Alberts also combined for two top-10 relay finishes as they came in eighth in the 200 medley relay in 2:01.79 and ninth in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:01.52.
Marshfield will return to Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln for the WIAA Division 1 sectional on Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
