SPENCER – The Spencer softball team swept a doubleheader from Owen-Withee on Friday, winning 4-3 and 8-0, at Spencer High School.

The Rockets are now 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division, while Owen-Withee remains winless at 0-12 overall and 0-11 in conference play.

Tiffany Meinders threw 10 shutout innings in the doubleheader – three in relief in Game 1 and a three-hit complete-game shutout in the second tilt – to lead the way for the Rockets.

In the opener, Madison Knecht earned the win, allowing three runs in four innings. Meinders struck out six to finish off the win.

In Game 2, Meinders struck out 12, walked two, and had a single, a home run, and three RBIs at the plate.

Paige Bauer went 4-for-4, and Chailey Robinson and Chloe Drews each added a pair of hits for the Rockets.

“The girls really worked together as a team tonight and it showed,” Spencer coach Laschel Canfield said. “We still have some work to do, but we are almost hitting our stride.”
