MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic took advantage of six Spencer errors, and Brooke Neider drove in four runs to lead the Dons to a 9-0 win in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Addison Baierl tossed a five-hit complete-game shutout for the Dons (5-5 overall and Cloverbelt East), striking out six and walking four.

Columbus scored three times in the third inning and added six more in the fourth to give Baierl more than enough run support.

The Dons scored their first run on an error and Neider smacked a two-run home run to make it 3-0.

Two Spencer errors allowed two more runs to score in the fourth, Neider had a two-RBI double, and later scored on a wild pitch as Columbus went up 9-0.

Annie Baierl also had two hits and scored a run for the Dons.

Spencer is now 7-9 overall and 6-6 in the Cloverbelt East. The Rockets host Neillsville on Friday. Columbus Catholic is at Gilman on Friday.
