BLAIR – Auburndale scored six first-half touchdowns and held Blair-Taylor to just 136 total yards as it rolled to a 52-14 win in a nonconference football game Friday night at Blair-Taylor High School.
Auburndale senior quarterback Cooper Weinfurter did it all for the Apaches. He ran for touchdowns of 1 and 12 yards, threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Wright, and returned a punt 48 yards for a score in the final minute of the first half. He finished 13 of 14 passing for 145 yards and the one touchdown.
Kyle Peterson added 133 yards rushing, and had touchdowns of 2 and 7 yards in the first 7 minutes of the game. Dylan Paun added a TD run in third quarter as well for the Apaches.
Wright connected on all seven of his extra-point kicks and added a 25-yard field goal for the Apaches’ final score in the fourth quarter.
Auburndale (2-0) opens Marawood Conference play at home next Friday, Sept. 6, against Edgar.
