RIB MOUNTAIN – Auburndale junior Danica Harrison continued her strong season with a 23-second victory Tuesday at the Edgar Cross Country Invitational held at Nine Mile Forest Recreation Area.

Harrison won the meet in a time of 15:41.1, 23.3 seconds ahead of Lizzie Pospyhalla of Edgar. Tory Palmer of Pittsville was third.

Sam Karl was ninth for the Apaches in 16:41.3, helping Auburndale to a third-place finish.

The Auburndale boys also placed third behind strong finishes by Luke Haas (fifth, 17:57.1) and David Haas (sixth, 18:09.1).

“Danica started out with the top girls, but she turned it on at the one
mile mark to pull away for the victory,” Auburndale coach Jim Johnson said. “The top four for both the girls and the boys ran really strong.”

Travis Wienke and Tyler Derfus led the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys, which finished eighth. Wienke took 17th in 19:30.6, 1.1 seconds ahead of Derfus, who was 18th.

Claire Pinter led the Dons girls by taking 10th in 16;51.4. Sarah Brandt was 25th in 18:19.1 as Columbus had only four competitors and didn’t figure in the team standings.

Eau Claire Regis had the second, eighth, ninth and 10th finishers to win the boys team title over Edgar.

The Edgar girls also took second. Mosinee won the girls title with the fourth- through sixth-place finishers, led by Meaghan Bruening in 16:23.7.

Auburndale will compete in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Invitational on Saturday before hosting the Auburndale Invitational on Tuesday at Frey Field in Spencer.
