Auburndale volleyball wins title at Edgar Invitational

EDGAR – The Auburndale volleyball team was a perfect 4-0 to win the team title at the Edgar Invitational on Saturday at Edgar High School.

Auburndale beat Edgar 25-19, 25-20; Wittenberg-Birnamwood 12-25, 25-22, 15-9; Rib Lake 25-14, 25-12; and Bruce 25-4, 25-5, to earn the tournament title.

Katie Helminiak was an all-around force for the Apaches, leading the offense with 24 kills and the defense with 30 digs in their four matches.

Georgi Schmutzer had 67 assists, 12 kills and 22 digs, Natalie Aue had 18 kills and 10 service aces, Maggie Willfahrt had 25 digs, and Madison Krings had 22 digs for Auburndale.

Auburndale will finish its regular season Tuesday at Marathon at the second Marawood North-South Crossover Challenge of the season.
