Auburndale wrestling finishes second at Hillsboro Invitational

HILLSBORO – Auburndale had three individual champions and four others finish as runner-ups to take second at the nine-team Hillsboro Tiger Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at Hillsboro High School.

Royall won the team title with 210 points and Auburndale ended up second with 125, just four points ahead of Dodgeville.

Noah Altmann (120 pounds), Hunter Godard (15-13 at 126) and Dylan Baird (138) won individual titles for Auburndale.

Altmann (23-7) won all three of his matches by pin in the round-robin format, and Baird (23-8) earned a pair of pins for the Apaches.

Brent Lau (145), Cody Poeschel (170), Sloan Welch (182) and Brice Thiel (195) each finished second for Auburndale.

Auburndale will wrap up its Marawood Conference dual meet schedule at home against Phillips on Tuesday and compete at the Marawood tournament on Feb. 1 at Chequamegon.
