Guden scores 36 points to lift Edgar past Auburndale in Marawood South girls basketball

AUBURNDALE – Makenna Guden was a one-woman wrecking ball on Thursday night.

The Edgar junior guard had her third 30-point game of the season, finishing with 36, to lead the Wildcats to a 60-48 win over Auburndale in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Thursday at Auburndale High School.

The game was tied 26-26 at halftime before Guden went off, scoring 25 points in the second half to help Edgar (11-5, 8-4 Marawood South) pull away.

Guden made three 3-pointers and was 6 of 8 at the free throw line in the second half to push the Wildcats to the win.

Natalie Aue had 13 points and Hailey Grimm scored 11 for Auburndale, which drops to 12-5 overall and into a second-place tie with Edgar in the Marawood South at 8-4.

Auburndale will host Pittsville in a nonconference game Monday.
