Marshfield boys hockey ends regular season with overtime win at Baraboo/Portage

BARABOO – Tristan Reissmann scored in the final seconds to force overtime and Tyler Reissmann had a goal 6:24 into overtime to lift the Marshfield boys hockey team to a thrilling 7-6 win over Baraboo/Portage in a nonconference game Friday night at the Pierce Park Ice Arena.

Marshfield jumped out to a 4-0 lead as Henry Hoerneman, Ethan Meissner and Payton Smith scored in the first period, and Sawyer Schindler added a goal 5½ minutes into the second period.

After the teams exchanged goals, with Hoerneman scoring again for the Tigers, Baraboo/Portage ripped off five unanswered goals to take a 6-5 lead with 2:35 remaining.

Tristian Reissmann scored a short-handed goal, off assists from Nick Urban and Noah Peterson, with just seven seconds remaining to even the score for Marshfield and send the game to overtime.

Tyler Reissmann took advantage of a power play opportunity 6:24 into overtime to give Marshfield the win.

Marshfield finishes the regular season with an 8-10 record. The Tigers will open postseason play with a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal at Lakeland (10-2) on Tuesday. Lakeland defeated Marshfield 6-4 back on Dec. 12.
