EAU CLAIRE – Spencer/Columbus Catholic earned a pair of titles and one runner-up finish at the WIAA Division 2 wrestling regional at Eau Claire Regis High School on Saturday.
Treyton Ackman and Connor Luedtke earned regional titles, and Joe Neider a second-place finish for the Rockets. The trio advance to the Division 2 sectional meet at Neillsville High School on Feb. 6.
Ackman (7-0) won the 113-pound title, defeating Luke Dux of Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal 4-0 in a battle of undefeated wrestlers.
Luedkte (7-3) earned the 220-pound title with a pin of Medford’s Wyatt Johnson in 4:34.
Neider (8-2) finished second at 170 pounds for Spencer/Columbus to also earn a sectional spot. Neider won a third-place match, then pinned Ken Pace of Medford in 5:20 in a second-place wrestleback.
Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal had eight sectional qualifiers, including regional champions Derek Zschernitz (10-2 at 120), Tommy Friemoth (15-0 at 170), and Gunner Hoffman (6-0 at 285). Jace Prior (11-1 at 106), Jarick Young (8-1 at 132), Dane Luchterhand (8-5 at 160), and Carter Schoengarth (11-4 at 182), and Dix (10-1) at 113.
