Four Marshfield gymnasts compete at 2021 WIAA Division 1 State Meet

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Four Marshfield gymnasts competed at the 2021 WIAA Division State Gymnastics Championships on Saturday.

Junior Hanna Merkel competed in the all-around, finishing 20th with a total score of 32.55. She had a 8.15 in the floor exercise, a 7.5 in the balance beam, 8.25 in the vault and 8.65 in the uneven bars.

Senior Alexis Mushel and junior Sophie Nikolay participated in the vault, with Mushel finishing 20th with a score of 8.1 and Nikolay 21st with an 8.075.

Sophomore Phoebe Hernandez competed in the balance beam, finishing 20th with a score of 6.925.

Miranda Knabe of Menomonee Falls/Germantown won the all-around title with a combined score of 37.75.

Isabella Bins of Sussex Hamilton and Kaylee LaFernier of Oconomowoc tied for first in the vault (9.625); Knabe and Jadyn Pye of Wilmot Union tied for first in the uneven bars (9.5); Bins won the balance beam (9.525); and Annie Murphy of Wilmot won the floor (9.575), earning state titles.

Wilmot Union won the team competition with a score of 145.8, edging Hartland Arrowhead by 2.425 points. Stevens Point was eighth with a score of 131.85.
