Schwanebeck-Ostermann finishes sixth at Division III national wrestling tournament

CORALVILLE, Iowa – Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann, a Marshfield High School graduate in 2019, competed at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III National Championships on March 12-13.

Schwaneback-Ostermann, a sophomore for Augsburg University in Minneapolis, came in as the No. 7 seed in the 197-pound bracket and ended up finishing sixth.

Schwaneback-Ostermann won his first three matches by scores of 9-0, 5-2 and 11-2 to reach the semifinals. He suffered three close losses on March 13, a 4-1 loss to No. 4-ranked Gabriel Zierden of Concordia-Moorhead in the semifinals, 4-3 to No. 2-ranked Logan Hagerbaumer of Millikin (Ill.) on a takedown with three seconds left in a consolation match, and 3-2 to top-ranked Jonathan Wagner of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in the fifth-place match.

Schwanebeck-Ostermann finished 11-3 this season and is 31-12 overall in his two years at Augsburg.
