ABBOTSFORD – The Spencer baseball team dropped both ends of a nonconference doubleheader to Abbotsford/Colby on Saturday at Red Arrow Park.
Abby/Colby won 16-5 and 12-0, dropping the Rockets’ record to 1-4.
Marco Olvera threw a five-inning no-hitter in the second game of the twinbill for the Falcons, striking out 11 and walking four.
Ross Elmhorst went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored to pace the Abbotsford/Colby offense.
Hunter Soyk, Brandon Diedrich, and Cade Faber each added two hits, with Soyk driving in three runs and Faber two on a pair of doubles, for the Falcons.
Elmhorst and Mateo Lopez each had two hits in Game 1, and Keith Kalepp had a double and three RBIs for the Falcons (7-2).
Diedrich earned the win, striking out four and allowing just one earned run in a five-inning complete game.
Chase Higgins had two hits and scored twice for Spencer.
Spencer is off until Thursday when it hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic. Abbotsford/Colby hosts Athens on Tuesday in a Marawood Conference North Division game.
