Spencer baseball rallies to beat Loyal in Cloverbelt East finale

SPENCER – The Spencer baseball team scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for a 14-12 win over Loyal in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division finale for both teams Tuesday at Spencer High School.

Spencer scored seven times in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead before Loyal responded with a six-run fourth and the Greyhounds led 10-9 going into the bottom of the sixth when the Rockets erupted again.

Andrew Sieracki had a two-run double, Matt Clark followed with an RBI single, Kaiden Miller knocked in a run with a double, and Caleb Rucker had another RBI single, all with two outs, to put Spencer on top.

Loyal scored twice in the seventh but Spencer was able to finish off the win and end the regular season with a 6-9 record and a 6-5 mark in the Cloverbelt East.

Chase Higgins and Dom Post each had three hits, Rucker drove in three, and Miller had two RBIs for the Rockets.

Spencer will play a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal at Marathon, and Loyal plays a D-4 regional quarterfinal at Owen-Withee, both on Thursday.
