Stratford has two state qualifiers after competition at WIAA Division 2 Osceola Track Sectional

OSCEOLA – Stratford will have two representatives at next week’s state meet after competing at the WIAA Division 2 Track & Field Sectional on Thursday at Osceola High School.

Jaidyn Wright won the girls triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 8¾ inches, and the boys 3,200 relay team of Elijah Lucio, Conner Weigel, Evan Danielson and Noah Lucio finished third in 8:29.37 for Stratford.

Wright and the relay team will compete at the WIAA Division 2 State Track & Field Championships on Friday, June 25, at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The Tigers had a couple of close misses as Drey Drexler finished fifth in the discus (129-9) and Luke Gaulke was fifth in the 200 meters (23.85 seconds). The top four in each event qualified for the state meet.

Wright finished seventh in the girls long jump (15-4½), Drexler was eighth in the boys shot put (45-1¾), the boys 1,600 relay team was 11th, Alexis Folz was eighth in the girls discus (102-0) and 16th in the shot put (30-5¾), and Lydia Golbach was 14th in the girls 1,600 (6:23.91). Darin Heeg didn’t qualify for the finals in the boys 300 hurdles.
