SCHOFIELD – Everest scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead and held on from there, defeating the Marshfield Chaparrals 3-2 in an amateur baseball game Thursday night at Simon Field.

Marshfield led 2-1 after 5½ innings as Nathan Krommenakker tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the first inning and Riley Boushack knocked in Krommenakker with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Brock Warren had an RBI double in the first for Everest, which rallied in the sixth against Marshfield starter Travis Opelt.

An error and a wild pitch scored the two runs for the Merchants, who were able to hold on as Tom Fish allowed just one hit in the final three innings to secure the win.

Marshfield (10-7) hosts Minocqua at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hackman Field. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
