MARSHFIELD – Caleb Krommenakker was dominant on the mound and at the plate, leading the Marshfield Chaparrals amateur baseball team to a 6-0 shutout win over the Minocqua Wood Ducks on Sunday afternoon at Jack Hackman Field.

Krommenakker struck out 14, did not walk a batter, and scattered eight hits in the nine-inning complete game shutout. He also went 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and scored twice in the win.

Leadoff hitter Isaiah Baierl added three hits and an RBI as well for Marshfield, which improves to 11-7 this summer.

Caleb Krommenakker had an RBI double and Luke Wirtz knocked in a run on a fielder’s choice to give Marshfield a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Riley Boushack had a sacrifice fly in the third and a two-run double in the seventh, and Baierl walked with the bases loaded to push the lead to 6-0.

The win is the start of a busy week for the Chaparrals, who will play six times in eight days. After a day off Monday, Marshfield hosts Merrill on Tuesday, travels to Waupaca on Wednesday, is at home against Sparta on Friday, will play at Medford on Saturday and finishes off the long string of games with a home game Sunday, Aug. 1, against Interwald.
