PARDEEVILLE – The Auburndale football team didn’t end the season the way it wanted, but it was a great season for the Apaches nontheless.

The Apaches lost their WIAA Division 5 Level 1 playoff game on the road to Pardeeville 34-6 on Tuesday night, ending their season with a 6-4 record.

The playoff apperance was the first for Auburndale since 2005, and the first in the five-year head coaching career of coach Dean McFarlane.

After a 1-3 start, with losses to powerhouses Stratford, Chippewa Falls McDonell and Edgar, the Apaches rallied to win five straight games to reach the postseason.

Pardeeville led 12-0 at halftime and 20-0 after three quarters.

Auburndale, which had 205 yards rushing, couldn’t find the end zone until the fourth quarter when Kyle Willfahrt scored on a 1-yard run. Willfahrt led the Apaches with 108 yards on 21 carries.

Pardeeville had 326 yards on the ground, and with 30-plus-mile-per-hour winds howling, neither team completed a pass.
