Marshfield takes sixth at Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Swim Meet

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield girls swim team had five top-seven finishes and finished sixth out of seven teams at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Swim Meet on Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Sophomore Emma Holbrook had the lone top-four finish for the Tigers, taking second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.67, four seconds behind winner Zoe Huddleston of D.C. Everest (59.30 seconds).

Holbrook, Walker Guzowski, Paige Hawley and Carly Barker took fifth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:01.19 and Barker took sixth in the 200 freestyle (2:08.07) and seventh in the 100 free (58.92).

The Tigers’ 200 freestyle relay team of Guzowski, Megan Marotz, Hawley, Barker finished seventh.

Wausau East won the meet in a tight battle. The Lumberjacks had 435.5 points, followed by Wisconsin Rapids with 415 and D.C. Everest with 414.

Becca Weiland of Wisconsin Rapids won the 200 individual medley, setting a new meet record of 2:08.08, and the 100 freestyle with another new meet record of 51.14.
