Marshfield’s Brielle Lenz earns sectional spot at WIAA Division 1 girls golf regional

SPARTA – Marshfield freshman Brielle Lenz earned an extra qualifying spot for next week’s sectional by shooting a 102 at the WIAA Division 1 Girls Golf Regional at River Run Golf Course on Wednesday.

The top four teams and top four individuals not on the qualifying teams advance to the Division 1 sectional meet at Turtleback Golf Club in Rice Lake on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

The top two teams and top three not on the qualifying teams advance to the 2021 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament at University Ridge Golf Club in Madison on Oct. 11-12.

Tomah won the regional title with a score of 331, with Onalaska second at 359, Wisconsin Rapids third at 378, and Stevens Point fourth at 403 to grab the four team spots.

Lenz was the fourth and final additional individual qualifier. Marshfield finished sixth in the team standings with a score of 438. In addition to Lenz, Ellie Mechler had a 110, Riana Manlick a 111, Lili Anany a 115 and McKenzie Holm a 117 for the Tigers.

Brin Neumann of Tomah and Allison Balduzzi of Onalaska each had 76s to tie for medalist honors.
