Columbus Catholic volleyball falls in five sets to Fall Creek in Cloverbelt crossover

FALL CREEK – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team dropped a hard-fought five-set match to Fall Creek in the first-place match of the Cloverbelt Conference crossovers on Thursday at Fall Creek High School.

Fall Creek won 25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 28-30, 15-11.

Dorci Walker led Columbus with 42 kills and 25 digs, Courtney Sommer added 29 assists, 16 digs and nine kills, and Lily Stratman had 25 assists.

Izzy Hoglund chipped in 24 digs and five service aces, and Jenna Kibbel had 11 kills and 21 digs as well for the Dons.

Walker was named Cloverblet Conference East Division Player of the Year and was a first-team all-conference selection, along with Sommer and Kibbel. Hoglund was named to the second team and Stratman was an honorable mention selection.

Columbus Catholic will host a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal on Thursday, Oct. 21, against the winner of Tuesday’s match between Pittsville and Wisconsin Valley Lutheran.
