COLBY – The Colby football team finished off an undefeated Marawood Conference championship season with a 54-7 rout of Auburndale on Friday night at Colby High School.
The Hornets win the outright Marawood title and finish the regular season with an 8-1 record and a 4-0 mark in the Marawood (7-0 counting three forfeits). Auburndale will be heading to the WIAA playoffs as well, securing a spot in the Division 6 field and finish 5-3 overall and 2-2 in Marawood (5-2 with the three forfeits).
Each team’s quarterback traded rushing touchdowns early as Colby’s Brent Jeske ran in from the 11 just 1:22 into the game, and Auburndale’s Trayton Weber scored from the 2 at the 6:50 mark.
From there, it was all Hornets.
Colby took the lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by Mason Voss with 1:06 to go in the first quarter, then scored three touchdowns in the second quarter and three more in the third to win going away.
Voss finished with 193 yards rushing and three touchdowns as Colby racked up 347 rushing yards and outgained Auburndale 409-89 overall.
