AUBURNDALE – Marta Almendra had 12 kills and Josie Ertl added 11 kills as the Auburndale volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over Markesan in a WIAA Division 3 girls volleyball regional quarterfinal Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.
The sixth-seeded Eagles won 25-19, 25-9, 25-27, 25-19, to advance to a D-3 regional semifinal at No. 3 seed Abbotsford on Thursday at 7 p.m. Abbotsford swept Necedah on Tuesday.
Brianna Weiler and Nicole Marth each added six kills, Ertl had six service aces and nine digs, and Maggie Baltus had 11 digs for Auburndale.
Ashlyn Grimm had 30 sets to lead the Eagles.
