Wisconsin Valley Union girls hockey loses tight one at Baraboo Co-op

BARABOO – The Wisconsin Valley Union girls hockey team, a co-op of Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids and Waupaca high schools, fell to 0-3 this season with a 3-2 loss to the Badger Lightning (Baraboo Co-op) on Saturday at the Pierce Park Ice Arena.

Leah Pavelski scored a pair of goals in the third period to tie the game at 2-2 for WVU, but Reese Olson scored on a power play with 1:03 remaining to net the Lightning the go-ahead goal and the victory.

Madison Wagner-Durr had 23 saves in goal for the Union.

WVU returns to action Friday against Medford. The game will be played at the Marshfield Ice Arena starting at 7 p.m.
