STRATFORD – Stratford used a 15-3 run over the first nine minutes of the second half to pull away from Spencer and pull out a 64-39 win in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford led 30-24 at halftime before jumping on the Rockets in the second half to earn its third-straight win.

Caden Brusiwitz scored 21 points on the strength of five 3-pointers, Ashton Wrench added 12 and Cam Daul had 10 for the Tigers, who are now 3-0.

“We didn’t take care of the ball in the first half, we had a lot of unforced turnovers, and we had to take care of that,” Stratford coach Curt Schmidt said. “We did a better job getting the ball into the high post and made some adjustments there. We were able to get Caden Brusiwitz open more.

“This is the first game where we had to play (against) a true zone. We had to make some adjustments.”

Spencer statistics were not reported.

Stratford plays a Marawood Conference crossover game at Athens on Thursday. Spencer (0-3) hosts Westfield for a nonconference game Tuesday at the Spencer Dome, and returns to Cloverbelt Conference East Division play Thursday at Owen-Withee.
