Late basket lifts Auburndale boys basketball past Neillsville to win home tournament

AUBURNDALE – Gavin White Eagle scored inside with 2.5 seconds left to lift the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 46-44 win over Neillsville in the championship game of the Auburndale Holiday Tournament on Wednesday night at Auburndale High School.

Lucas Yeske hit six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points for Auburndale, which improves to 3-6 with its second-straight victory.

Mason Roenz led Neillsville (7-2) with 12 points.

Auburndale will travel to Phillips for a Marawood Conference crossover game on Monday, while Neillsville returns to action Tuesday with a home Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest against Spencer.
