Spencer girls basketball cruises to Cloverbelt East win over Greenwood

SPENCER – The Spencer girls basketball team dominated from the start, jumping out to a big first-half lead and cruising to a 51-28 win over Greenwood in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Monday night at Spencer High School.

Spencer pulled out to a 28-9 lead by halftime and rolled to the win, holding Greenwood to just nine made field goals in the game.

The Rockets are now 6-4 overall and 6-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Greenwood falls to 2-10 and 1-5 in conference play.

Heavyn Kind had 27 points to lead the way for Spencer.

Avry Wuethrich topped Greenwood with 13 points.

Spencer will play two more home games this week taking on Pittsville in a nonconference game Tuesday and Colby in a Cloverbelt East game Thursday.

Greenwood travels to Owen-Withee for a Cloverbelt East game Thursday.
