Spencer baseball scores three in seventh to defeat Pittsville

PITTSVILLE – Spencer scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to edge Pittsville 8-6 in a nonconference baseball game Monday at Pittsville High School.

The Rockets scored four times in the top of the first inning before Pittsville responded with three in the bottom of the frame.

The game was tied 5-5 after six innings before the Rockets pulled way with a three-run seventh.

Reed Knecht picked up the win for Spencer (1-2) with three shutout innings of relief. She struck out four and allowed just one hit. Tyler Peterson allowed one run in the bottom of the seventh and earned the save for the Rockets.

Kaiden Miller went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Cadyn Hardrath had two hits and three RBI in the win for Spencer.

Noah Grimm and Brad Neve each had three hits for Pittsville (4-2).

Pittsville plays its Central Wisconsin Conference South Division opener Tuesday at Stevens Point Pacelli. Spencer will open its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule at home against Owen-Withee on Tuesday.
