Edgar outlasts Auburndale softball in nine innings

EDGAR – The Edgar softball team scored runs in the bottom of the eight and ninth innings to pull out a wild 11-10 win over Auburndale on Monday at Edgar High School.

Auburndale led 9-7 after six innings before Edgar rallied to scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

After Auburndale scored in the top of the eight, Edgar matched it and won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth to remain unbeaten this season at 4-0 overall and in the Marawood Conference South Division.

Mya Krings went 3-for-5 and scored twice, Ashlyn Grimm had two hits and three RBI, and Kimmie Lundgren had two hits and drove in two for Auburndale, which falls to 1-4 and 0-3 in the Marawood South.

Makayla Wirkus, Ashley Erickson and Morgan Streveler each had three hits for Edgar, which had 16 in all

Auburndale will play at Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday, while Edgar will be at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
