Loyal/Greenwood sweeps doubleheader at Spencer

SPENCER – The Loyal/Greenwood softball team pulled into a tie for first place in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division with a doubleheader sweep of Spencer on Friday at Spencer High School.

The Greenhounds won 15-0 and 14-1 to improve to 12-2 overall and 9-1 in the Cloverbelt East, pulling into a tie with Neillsville for the conference lead after the Warriors defeated Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Friday.

Emma Schlough had three hits and scored three times, Aspen Hagen had two hits, three runs scored nad two RBI, and Courtney Rakovec hit a solo home run to lead Loyal/Greenwood in Game 1.

Hagen continued her hot hitting in Game 2 for Loyal/Greenwood, going 4-for-4 with two singles, a triple, a home run and six RBI.

Spencer was limited to four hits in each game as the Rockets drop to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the conference.

Spencer will compete at the Gilman/Thorp Slamfest on Saturday. Loyal/Greenwood returns to action Tuesday with a conference home game against Colby/Abbotsford.
