Marshfield Chaparrals baseball drops opener to Whittlesey

WHITTLESEY – The Whittlesey Reds scored single runs in the first and sixth innings to down the Marshfield Chaparrals 2-0 in amateur baseball action Saturday.

Chase Higgins allowed both runs in six innings, and Hunter Korger pitched two innings of shutout relief for the Chaparrals, who were playing their season opener.

Whittlesey managed just four hits but were able to plate a run in the first on an RBI groundout by Braden Loefsher and another in the sixth on an RBI single by Cael Alexadner.

Marshfield was limited to five hits in the loss.

Marshfield will host its home opener on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Tomahawk at Jack Hackman Field. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
