LA CROSSE – Marshfield had one singles player and two doubles team advance to sectionals after competition at the WIAA Division 1 boys tennis subsectional Monday at the Green Island Tennis Complex. The event was hosted by La Crosse Central.
Players and teams reaching the semifinals in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, and those making the finals in all other flights advance to the sectional meet Wednesday at Eau Claire Memorial.
Ryan Paulman won his first match at No. 1 singles for Marshfield, defeating Elliott Schultz of Wisconsin Rapids 6-0, 6-1, to move on.
Also earning spots at the sectional for the Tigers were the No. 1 doubles team of Justin Rachu and Kai Rens, and the No. 2 doubles team of Kennan Chojnacki and Payton Smith.
Rachu and Rens won 6-1, 6-2, over Nick Shaitel and Gavin Richter of Tomah, and Chojancki and Smith won two matches in straight sets to advance for Marshfield.
