Stratford baseball takes care of Northland Pines in Division 3 regional semifinal

STRATFORD – Cam Daul struck out four in a complete-game effort, and Braeden Schueller and Henry Zaleski each drove in two runs as the Stratford baseball team handled Northland Pines 7-2 in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal Tuesday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.

After allowing a run in the top of the first inning, Daul settled in and threw five consecutive scoreless innings. The Tigers’ offense did the rest.

Stratford quickly tied the game in the first and pulled away with three runs in the fourth, two more in the fifth and another in the sixth.

Jack Tubbs and Jackson Ormond each had two hits and scored twice, and Vance Kielman added two hits and one run scored for Stratford. Ormonda and Brady Schmidt added RBI in the win.

Stratford (17-5), the top seed in its portion of the Division 3 Sectional 2 bracket, will host Wittenberg-Birnamwood (19-5) in regional final Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com. Witt-Birn, the No. 2 seed, downed No. 3 Marathon 6-3 on Tuesday.
