Columbus Catholic soccer knocks off Amherst in CWC opener

AMHERST – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team opened its Central Wisconsin Conference schedule with a 5-2 win over Amherst on Monday night at Amherst High School.

Ale Edwards scored twice in the first half and Grant Olson added another to give the Dons a 3-0 lead by halftime.

Edwards and Olson added goals in the second half to push the lead to 5-1 before Amherst scored again late. Olson assisted on all of Edwards’ goals and Edwards did the same on Olson’s.

Lucas Kreklau saved two shots in goal for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic (4-1, 1-0 CWC) hosts Northland Lutheran at Griese Park in Marshfield at 5 p.m. Thursday.
