Isaac Scheer finishes second for Columbus Catholic at home cross country invite

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s Isaac Scheer finished second to lift the Dons to a third-place finish in the Small School division at the Marshfield Columbus Catholic Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Wildwood Park.

Isaac Scheer finished in 16:51.3, nine seconds behind meet champion Ryan Kilibarda of Stillwater (Minn.) as the Dons totaled 79 points to finish behind Chippewa Falls McDonell (35) and Chequamegon (59) in the Small School standings. Andrew Scheer took seventh for Columbus Catholic in 17:09.6.

Stillwater won the Large Schools title with 15 points as it had five of the top six finishers overall.

Marshfield had just one boys runner compete. Owen Hoerneman took eighth in the boys race in 17:34.3.

Whitefish Bay won the Large School title and Chequamegon took first in the Small School division in the girls portion of the meet.

Lily Kriegel of Whitefish Bay won the girls race in 19:08.0, 18 seconds in front of Chequamegon’s Autumn Michalski.

Natalie Scharenbroch finished 10th in 21:35.4 for Marshfield, which had all five of its top runners finish between 10th and 19th to take second in the Large School standings.

Carolina Sullenger was 15th (23:47.7), Ava Raab 16th (24:15.3), Kassiday Christopher 18th (24:28.7) and Lauryn Katzenberger 19th (24:37.7) for the Tigers.

Sam Casperson finished 28th (25:30.6) and Katelyn Casperson was 38th (26:11.0) to lead the Columbus Catholic girls.

Marshfield will host its annual invitational on Tuesday on the same Wildwood Park course.
