MARSHFIELD – One former athlete and two contributors will be inducted into the Marshfield Tiger Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2022.

Former three-sport standout Amy (Ludwig) Jurgensen, and Tiger Athletics supporters Joan Jansen-Traxler and Kurt Boson will be honored at Marshfield’s home football game on Sept. 30 and formally inducted into the Hall of Fame at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Marshfield High School Auditorium.

Jurgensen won five letters in her Marshfield High School athletic career that spanned from 1980-83. She played on the volleyball team for two seasons, was a two-year letterwinner in basketball playing for teams that combined for a stellar 35-11 record, and was a three-year letterwinner in softball.

As part of the softball team, Jurgensen had a career batting average of .363, earning Most Improved Player honors in 1981, team Most Valuable Player in 1982, and all-Wisconsin Valley Conference honors in 1981 and 82. She was named a Prep All-American Girl Athlete in 1983 by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.

Jansen-Traxler was a coach and coordinator for the Girls Athletic Association, which was an intramural program for female athletes prior to 1972. She served as Marshfield High School’s first girls track coach from 1973-75, with 18 total athletes qualifying for the WIAA state meet in those years.

Jansen-Traxler, a physical education teacher from 1963-2001, was also instrumental in starting the Student Council and Social Committee at the school.

Boson, a 1980 graduate and three-sport athlete in football, basketball and track at Marshfield High School, was on the leadership team for Building on a Tradition of Excellence Capital Campaign that helped raise $8.2 million for the project that included Heiting Community Stadium, Safford Field, Madison Field and renovations to Beell Stadium and the Harrington Familly Track.

Boson is a third-generation owner of The Boson Company, which was the first to contribute to naming rights of the Fieldhouse at the high school. He also served as chair of Marshfield’s first private/public campaign to construct the J.D. Boson Tennis Complex.
