MERRILL – Maahir Patel and Brett Mannigel each had two goals and an assist to lead the Marshfield boys soccer team to a 8-0 rout of Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Thursday at Merrill High School.

Keegan Fredrick had a goal and Patel scored twice to put Marshfield up 3-0 by halftime.

That was more than enough as the Tigers held Merrill without a shot on a goal in the game.

Mannigel added two goals, and Julian Clopton, Josh Steinbach and Will Domine chipped in with goals late in the second half to finish off the victory for the Tigers (2-3-1, 1-1 WVC).

Marshfield hosts Eau Claire North for a nonconference game at 4 p.m. Friday at Heiting Community Stadium.
