Marshfield girls tennis drops home finale to Stevens Point

MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point swept all seven matches, six in straight sets, as it defeated Marshfield 7-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis match Thursday at the Boson Tennis Complex.

Marshfield’s Lucy Luedtke took Annika Borgnes of Stevens Point to three sets before falling 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.

The Tigers’ No. 3 doubles team of Ruhi Shah and Ashley Grancorvitz also put up a tough fight, losing a pair of close sets to Mali Palmer and Isabella Williams, 7-6, (7), 7-5.

Marshfield (1-3 WVC) will finish up its regular-season schedule with matches at Wausau West on Tuesday and at Merrill on Sept. 22. The Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet is Sept. 29 at Wausau East.
