CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team went 4-1 to finish second at the Diocesan Invitational on Saturday at McDonell High School.

The Dons defeated Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran 25-18, 25-9; Eau Claire Regis 20-25, 25-20, 15-9; Wausau Newman Catholic 25-21, 23-25, 15-11; and Stevens Point Pacelli 25-11, 25-13; before losing to McDonell 25-14, 25-21.

Courtney Sommer had 44 kills, 19 digs, 41 assists and 11 service aces to pace the Dons in their five matches.

Lily Stratman had a team-high 59 assists, while also contributing 17 digs and six aces, Aaliyah Krenn added 32 kills and 11 blocks, Jenna Kibbel had 21 kills, 33 digs and five aces, Izzy Hoglund had 58 digs, and Gracie Wilczek had 17 kills, 24 digs and six aces for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic will play a Cloverbelt Conference East Division match at Owen-Withee on Tuesday before hosting Neillsville on Thursday.
