Columbus Catholic volleyball rolls past Pittsville in WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal

MARSHFIELD – The top-seeded Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team took care of business in its playoff opener Thursday night, sweeping No. 8 seed Pittsville 25-18, 25-11, 25-19, in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Dons move on to a regional final and will host Wisconsin Rapids Assumption at 7 p.m. Saturday. The No. 5 seed Assumption upended No. 4 Tri-County 3-1 in a regional semifinal Thursday.

Courtney Sommer led the Dons’ offense with 14 killsa and 12 assists, senior Lily Stratman had a team-high 14 assists, and Aaliyah Krenn added nine kills in the win.

Izzy Hoglund had a team-high 31 digs, Jenna Kibbel chipped in six kills and 16 digs, Sommer had 13 digs, and Gracie Wilczek had seven kills and nine digs as well for Columbus Catholic.
