Auburndale volleyball knocks off Abbotsford in WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale volleyball team will play for a regional championship on Saturday after a 3-1 victory over Abbotsford in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal Thursday at Auburndale High School.

The No. 3 seed Eagles won 25-18, 25-16, 21-25, 27-25, over No. 6 Abbotsford to advance to a D-3 regional final at No. 2 seed Stanley-Boyd on Saturday at 7 p.m. Stanley-Boyd beat No. 7 Nekoosa 3-1 on Thursday.

Josie Ertl had 20 kills and Brianna Weiler added nine kills, and both had four service aces for Auburndale as its offense was cooking.

Setter Ashlyn Grimm had 32 assists and 15 digs, Maggie Baltus added 15 digs as well, for the Eagles.
