Columbus Catholic soccer falls to La Crosse Aquinas in WIAA Division 4 regional final

LA CROSSE – La Crosse Aquinas scored just 3:21 into the game and Marshfield Columbus Catholic could not recover as the Blugolds went on to a 3-0 win in a WIAA Division 4 boys soccer regional final Saturday afternoon at Fields for Kids.

Aquinas (14-7-2) moves on to a D-4 sectional semifinal at Arcadia on Thursday, Oct. 27. Columbus Catholic ends its season with a 14-4 record.

Andrew Sutton score just 3½ minutes in and Henry Horstman added a goal in the 31st minute to lift Aquinas to 2-0 lead.

The Blugolds, who also defeated Columbus Catholic in last year’s regional final, outshot the Dons 21-7 overall and 9-4 on goal.

Caden Schams added a goal midway through the second half to finish the scoring for Aquinas.

Lucas Kreklau had six saves in goal for Columbus Catholic.
