Almond-Bancroft starts strong, plows past Spencer boys basketball

ALMOND – Almond-Bancroft held Spencer to just 16 points in the first half to open up a big lead and defeated the Rockets 86-51 in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday at Almond-Bancroft High School.

The Eagles raced out to a 49-16 lead and maintained the big advantage the rest of the way to improve to 6-1 this season.

Ayden Phillips scored 41 points to lead the way for Almond-Bancroft.

Jonathan Jonas had 21 points and Luke Roehrborn added 13 for Spencer, which drops to 1-4.

Spencer will host Colby for a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
