STEVENS POINT – Neither team shot well from the free throw line, but Marshfield Columbus Catholic was a lot better than Stevens Point Pacelli and used that advantage to defeat the Cardinals 48-42 in a girls basketball game at the Sentry Classic on Wednesday afternoon at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Columbus Catholic was 11 of 17 at the line, while Pacelli made just six of 19 attempts, including only four of 16 in the second half, as the Dons pulled away late.

The game was tied 19-19 at halftime before Hailey Zimmermann scored 13 of her team-high 15 points for the Dons, who are now 7-5 this season.

Maggie Callaghan added 11 points for Columbus Catholic.

Amelia Jacoby led Pacelli (4-5) with 12 points.

Columbus Catholic will take on Edgar at the tournament on Friday at 11 a.m.
