Top-seed Neenah St. Mary Catholic proves too much for Auburndale in WIAA Division 4 girls basketball regional final

NEENAH – The Auburndale girls basketball team’s season came to end with a 77-56 loss to No. 1 seed Neenah St. Mary Catholic on Saturday night at St. Mary Catholic High School.

The Zephyrs (25-1) were efficient throughout the game, shooting 53 percent (28-for-53) overall and 9-for-16 from 3-point range.

St. Mary Catholic led 38-28 at halftime and fourth-seed Auburndale was unable to make it much closer in the second half, eventually falling by 19.

Auburndale finishes its season with a 16-10 record.

St. Mary Catholic moves on to a sectional semifinal against No. 2 seed Westfield next Thursday.

Annamarie Aue went 9-for-9 at the free throw line and finished with a team-high 23 points for Auburndale. Ashlyn Grimm made four 3-pointers and added 20 points in the loss.

Emily Vogel had 27 points and Chloe Vogel scored 20 for the Zephyrs.
