Auburndale softball stays unbeaten in come-from-behind win over Wautoma

WAUTOMA – The Auburndale softball team scored seven times in the final two innings to pull past Wautoma 12-7 in a nonconference matchup Tuesday at Wautoma High School.

Auburndale led 5-1 before Wautoma stormed back to take a 7-5 lead with a four-run fourth inning.

The Eagles rallied with three runs in the sixth inning and added four important insurance runs in the seventh to finish off the win and improve to 4-0 this season.

Samantha Stanton earned the victory, pitching three scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts.

Ashlyn Grimm had three hits, including two-run singles in the second and seventh innings, to pace the Auburndale offense.

Regynn Lau added two hits and two RBI, and Danika Blomberg also knocked in a pair of runs with a single in the second innings for the Eagles.

Auburndale’s next game is next Tuesday, April 4, at home against Phillips.
